Florida Council of Catholic Women/Province of Miami at P. O. Box 1811, Labelle, FL 33975 US - As We Meet

As We Meet

It is hard to measure the reflections of first-time attendees, but one of our  St. Helen CCW members actually captured her reactions in poetry one day as waited for her colleagues.  Here is that reaction of Avalon McGann. A first time conference attendee, who has been a member of St. Helen CCW, Vero Beach (Diocese of Palm Beach, FL) for about two years

As We Meet

She walks toward me with that perpetual smile.

Have we met before?  Has it been awhile?

Women of grace we warmly embrace.

Friendship unfolds.

Our eyes reflect Jesus centered deep within our souls.

Attaining Heaven is our common goal

We traveled from afar; hopeful expectations abound..

Whatever the meeting place we stand upon holy ground.

Who are we?  Strangers…family…sisters united as

council, witnesses, peace makers. Can it be?

Together we evangelize with unsuppressed glee.

World wide we tend to social and community needs.

As a nation, a Diocese, A Parish we proceed.

We have a strong voice,

Life is our choice.

Smiling she walks towards me,

A woman of indeterminable age.

She is my mentor, my companion, my sage.

Welcome my sister.  We are powerful yet humble.

We are coming of age.
