FOSTERING WITH LOVE PROJECT

Our “Fostering With Love” project began several years ago and we have learned quite a lot from the pilot program. We are progressing and continue to be optimistic for the future. We were all aware that this project would not happen overnight, but we have begun to see results. St. Matthew’s Parish in Lakeland now has their second child. Another family who has qualified to be a foster family is awaiting a child. We saw the great foster family photos last year at our Conference and are looking forward to many more. We have heard from all the dioceses that many of the parishes are supporting the foster families already in their parish. It is really a tremendous help to the foster parents when parishioners volunteer to babysit, cook, run errands, etc. Several groups have held baby showers and birthday parties for the children. A mailing will be going out to all pastors reminding them of the project and asking for their support. We ask you to talk to your Pastor about this statewide project and let them know that your affiliations are there to help in any way. “Fostering With Love” was part of the Poster Session at the NCCW Convention in Nashville this September. We want other groups throughout the country to see and hear about our statewide endeavor and, perhaps, get on the bandwagon. It is very gratifying to know that, with the Bishops’ blessing, we, the women of FCCW, have come together on a province-wide project. We need to continue to pray and ask God’s help and guidance so that we will be successful.
